Elias, young spokesperson of the Montreal Challenge

Let’s give a warm welcome to Elias, the young spokesperson for the Montreal 2024 Leucan Shaved Head Challenge. He shares his story with us:

“My name is Elias Hernandez, I’m 5 and a half years old and I was diagnosed with neuroblastoma, a pediatric cancer, on November 10th, 2019. At the time, I was just a baby, and my parents were plunged into a whirlwind of emotions and uncertainties. Fortunately, Leucan was there for us. The Association provided my parents support and comfort during the most difficult times. Thanks to Leucan, we met other families and received invaluable advice on navigating through treatments and hospitalizations. Today, I’ve been in remission for 4 years.

I’m proud to take part in the Leucan Shaved Head Challenge as a spokesperson. It’s a fundraiser that’s close to my family’s heart, because it supports families like mine throughout the illness. I invite you to join me in the Leucan Shaved Head Challenge to help other children like me.”

The Montreal-Laval Leaders Challenge

The Leaders Challenge is an initiative that is part of the Leucan Shaved Head Challenge, which aims to mobilize leaders across Quebec around the cause of children with cancer and their families.

Alex and Vincent Desharnais, heroes for Leucan’s children

A huge thank you to NHL player Vincent Desharnais and his brother Alex for taking up the Leucan Shaved Head Challenge at the Classique KR9 on August 10. It was already Vincent’s third Challenge! Together, the two brothers raised over $20,258 for Leucan this year and therefore are awarded the Citizen Leader distinction.

Well done to you both, and good luck with the Vancouver Canucks, Vincent!

A heartfelt tribute at Gardenview Elementary School

Teachers, students, parents and friends paid tribute to young Tyson, who died of cancer last September, in a touching event organized at Gardenview Elementary School. They all showed their support for the boy’s family in an emotional Shaved Head Challenge, where smiles and tears combined as participants made the ultimate gesture of solidarity and hope. This great outpouring of love raised over $11,000, earning the school the title of Youth Leader. Congratulations to the entire Gardenview School community!
