Leucan Shaved Head Challenge – Trois-Rivières
The general public is invited once again to participate in the Leucan Shaved Head Challenge in support of children with cancer. The head shaving will take place on November 16, 2024 in Trois-Rivières.
This year’s Challenge warmly welcomes two honorary chairs from Didactikus: Joanie Matteau, Clinical Manager (top), and Valérie Pelletier, Human Resources and Marketing Manager (bottom). Here’s what is driving their commitment to Leucan:
“Didactikus is a multidisciplinary clinic that provides healthcare, education and social services to individuals. So we are delighted to serve as honorary chairs of the Leucan Shaved Head Challenge campaign.
We work, on a daily basis, with children living with all kinds of difficulties and their families. This cause is particularly dear to us as a company, and also as individuals. At Didactikus, we focus on a person’s well-being in all spheres of their lives. One of our most important objectives is to get involved with the community and be motivators for change.
As individuals, and on behalf of Didactikus and Leucan, we invite you to join the movement and to give generously in support of children with cancer and their families.“
We are honoured to welcome again this year Livia as young spokesperson for the Challenge. Read her family’s testimonial:
“In December 2017, our lives turned upside down. We learned that Livia had a rare genetic disease: neurofibromatosis type 1. The disorder brings its share of difficulties, including severe learning disabilities, risk of scoliosis and subcutaneous neurofibroma. Neurofibromatosis can cause tumours to grow on nerves and turn into cancer.
That’s what happened. A malignant brain tumour, an optic pathway glioma, threatens to blind her. The only solution is chemotherapy.
This is when Leucan entered into our lives. Leucan stood by us, both financially and psychologically, for over 150 weeks. We still benefit from their support today. Leucan welcomed us into their family and helped us to feel less alone.
What would we have done without their support? It’s important to us to give back something to them by being spokespersons for the Leucan Shaved Head Challenge. It’s a way for us to express our infinite gratitude, and also to ensure that other families like ours can benefit from their services. Leucan is so important!
Please help them make a difference in the lives of people dealing with this devastating disease.“
Leucan Shaved Head Challenge – Drummondville
Leucan invites you to its Drummondville Leucan Shaved Head Challenge, to be held in person on February 20, 2025 at Collège Saint-Bernard.
The Association welcomes Émilie Jutras, Dentist and owner of Clinique dentaire Émilie Jutras, as Honorary Co-President of the Challenge:
“It’s with a feeling of gratitude that I accepted the honorary co-presidency of the Drummondville Leucan Shaved Head Challenge. It is essential to support children with cancer and their families. Leucan and its employees are unparalleled in their generosity and kindness, as I myself benefited from their invaluable help with my daughter’s thyroid cancer.
Now it’s time to give back to this extraordinary organization to continue to bring comfort and happiness to sick children. I invite you to participate in large numbers in the Drummondville Leucan Shaved Head Challenge and to be generous in the name of children with cancer.“
Sara, Émilie’s daughter, will be present as a spokesperson for the Challenge. In 2023, at age 18, Sara was diagnosed with papillary thyroid carcinoma. She shares her story:
“In June 2022, I noticed an odd lump in my neck. Six months later, I saw my doctor at the CHUS Fleurimont. After several tests, I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer, which is very rare in children. On March 22, 2023, I had an operation to remove my thyroid gland and all my lymph nodes on the right side. A few days later, while I was still reeling from what had happened, a Leucan representative came to see me at the hospital. It was such a heartwarming visit, and I received some gifts that did me so much good. It was the light at the end of the tunnel, because from then on I knew I was in good hands.
Leucan is like my second family, one that understands me when things are rough, but also when things are going well. It’s probably the only family that truly understands what I’m going through. My Leucan family includes children who’ve been through a similar ordeal. It’s this experience that defines us as a person. It’s our story.
I got to know this new family during the autumn camp with the Heart-filled Hope support group. It was one of the best weekends of my life! I was welcomed into an incredible family with open arms. All the people I met there are simply beautiful. That’s how I created a new family for myself.
I’m here today to pay it forward—to give to others what I was so fortunate to receive.
Please donate to the Leucan family.“

“I’m very proud to serve as honorary chair of the Leucan Shaved Head Challenge, which is back in Shawinigan after a few years’ hiatus. I’m delighted to join this important initiative in support of families dealing with childhood cancer. Leucan is vital in helping the children and their families get through this difficult ordeal.
