Each year, over a hundred schools take part in the Leucan Shaved Head Challenge to support cancer-stricken children and their families. For many schools, the Challenge becomes a much-awaited annual event that brings everyone together.

Why should I register my school?
Taking part in the Leucan Shaved Head Challenge is an experience you’ll remember for a lifetime. In addition to instilling social values of generosity and mutual support, participating in the Challenge creates a strong sense of pride—both for those who shave their head and for those who encourage their peers by making a donation. By working together toward a common goal, students develop a stronger sense of belonging and connection to their school. The message it conveys brings people together: beauty isn’t about physical appearance, and together, we have the power to take concrete action to help others.
How It Works
Must all participants shave their heads completely?
Not necessarily. You can participate in the Leucan Shaved Head Challenge by shaving your head, but you can also participate by cutting off at least 8 inches of your hair.
What must a participant do?
Any student or staff member who wishes to participate must create an online fundraising page under the school’s Leucan Shaved Heads Challenge team.
Each participant raises as many donations as possible from friends and family. A minimum of $50 raised per participant is required to take on the Challenge.
On the big day, they’ll have to shave their head or cut off at least 8 inches of their hair… a memorable and thrilling moment!
What components are covered by Leucan?
Once your school has registered online, a Leucan contact person will reach out to you to discuss your school’s Challenge.
This contact person will guide you and provide the necessary support from start to finish. They will be happy to answer your questions and offer advice on engaging participants and organizing the Challenge. They will be available to answer any questions you may have.
Leucan provides free supplies to create a festive atmosphere for your event: visual aids, giant checks, promotional materials, balloons, temporary tattoos, bandanas, shaving capes, aprons for hairdressers, and more.
What elements must the organizer of a School Challenge take care of?
- Recruiting students and school staff to participate in the Challenge
- Motivating participants to raise funds
- Organizing fundraising activities to support participants (e.g., bake sale, color day, garage sale, raffle to shave a staff member’s head, etc.)
- Recruiting hairdressers (who must bring their own equipment) and a host (e.g., a staff member, student, etc.)
- Planning the Challenge (your Leucan contact person can advise you)
Once your decision is made, it’s time to register online!
Have on hand the following:
- A team name for your group.
- Tip: give your group page a name that’s easy to find by those who might want to join or donate to – like the name of your school!
- Your fundraising goal to help cancer-stricken children and their families.
- Tip: in 2020, even during the pandemic, participants raised over $1,000 on average. The bigger the team, the bigger goal!
Follow the registration steps:
- Please click the button below, select “Private”, choose the region where your school is located, and create a team in your school’s name.
- Whether you choose to shave your head or not, as the organizer, you’ll still need to create a fundraising page for yourself when you set up the team. This will give you access to the link to your school’s team page and allow you to manage it.
- Share the link with participating students and staff so they can sign up too! All they have to do is click “Join the Challenge” on the team page and follow the registration steps.
